Born in France, Julien Started the piano at eleven and switched to the drum set at seventeen. His first teacher Alain Bacque gave him the opportunity of playing with him during his gigs. Julien was also playing in a blues band as well as a big band. During compulsary military service, he became the leader of the snare department as well as the drummer of "la batterie Fanfare". After spending three month at the P.I.T. of Los Angeles he joined the Berklee College of Music where he studied with Jon Hazilla, Casey Scheurell, Jon Ramsay, Kenwood Dennard. He performed in many Jazz festival in Germany, England, France and in the USA. Julien played and recorded with Stephane Wrembel, George Garzone, Lionel Loueke, Gino Sitson, Amy Winhouse, Kyle Eastwood, Essiet Essiet, Joel Frahm, Myron Walden to name a few. Living in New York, Julien performs regularly at Barbes, Joe's Pub, The Knitting Factory, Lincoln Center, the Kitano,The Jazz Standard, Smalls, 55 bar...Julien is the band co-leader with Dimitri Mikelis of his own band called "MITZ". Julien is also a member of the Jtrio which has already released four albums.
